Acupuncture and IVF

Using acupuncture along with IVF is becoming very common, and there have been many studies on this subject in recent years that acupuncture increases the chances of successful IVF treatment in 40-50%.

The treatment works in two directions - continuing the process of in vitro fertilization to improve every step of the process, and helps you cope with side effects of drugs, as well as reduce stress and help others with health problems that arise along the way.

Therefore, increases the probability of successful IVF and after childbirth, women who have acupuncture treatment, and feel happier, more positive and relaxed during the process. In my experience, women tell me that they use a lot of acupuncture, and found that really helped by the fact that, as a rule, very tense time.

There are many different ways to work with acupuncture and IVF, and every acupuncturist has a slightly different approach. As a rule, have weekly acupuncture treatment during the whole process of IVF, and ideally should begin shortly before the start of IVF.

Acupuncture needles can be placed at points throughout the body. As a rule, you may have a few on the legs or feet, and a pair in the lower abdomen. Points in the hand or the back can be used, depending on the individual stories and general health, and in the center of acupuncture. Treatment is not painful, and often is actually very relaxing.

National Registration for Acupuncture and TCM

National Registration and what this means for Chinese Medicine Practitioners in Australia

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is currently an unregulated health profession in Australia. This means that anyone can call themselves an Acupuncturist or Chinese Herbalist and are able to treat patients with no proper uniform training or experience.
There are many greatly skilled and fully qualified practitioners out there however it is difficult for patients to know for sure who these practitioners are and how to find them.

From the 1st July 2012 Chinese Medicine practitioners must be registered under the national registration accreditation scheme with the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia and meet all the Board’s Registration standards in order to practice in Australia. Therefore all acupuncturists, Chinese herbal medicine practitioners and dispensers will fall under the same national registration scheme as doctors, dentists and physiotherapists.

Registration means all practitioners will have undergone the proper training and are under government accreditation standards. This will better protect you as the patient. Under this registration you can trust the practitioners will provide you with a suitable level of care and products that are prescribed and dispensed properly.

As a qualified and experienced practitioner myself, this is great news for our profession and this means better patient care for all future patients. This is a huge step forward for all Chinese Medicine Practitioners.

Ways to beat Abdominal Bloating in my clinic

In my Acupuncture & Beauty Clinic I treat many women with abdominal bloating, through the use of Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, diet advice, Sound Therapy and Crystals.
Acupuncture is used to commonly treat digestive complaints including abdominal bloating, indigestion, constipation and cramps. In Chinese Medicine, abdominal bloating or distention is a result of the Spleen and Stomach energy or qi being stuck. There is no smooth flow or energy and as a result we feel bloated. Acupuncture works for abdominal bloating and distention because it helps to regulate the digestive system, aid metabolism and the stomach function to move the stuck energy or qi. After the energy flow is better, the abdomen does not feel as distended. We also combine acupuncture with Chinese herbs to regulate the Stomach and Spleen function which moves the energy downwards instead of in the abdomen. We also teach patient’s to massage the stomach centre meridian in a downward motion after eating to aid digestion and reduce distention.

Another tip is to avoid is cold icy water or drinks. The nature of cold is to contract, it does not allow for easy absorption in the body and cold drinks solidify the oily foods we eat, it also slows down digestion and can lead to a feeling of distention in the abdomen. By drinking warm drinks like tea, warm water and soups, it is able to melt the fats in the body and aid digestion, and in most cases reduce the feeling of abdominal bloating.  Also we should avoid eating raw or uncooked foods for the same reason.

Another treatment I used in my clinic for abdominal bloating which is extremely effective is Sound Therapy with tuning forks. This is using a form of vibrational energetic and harmonic healing to regulate imbalances through cell biology and quantum physics. These tuning forks are placed on specific acupuncture points and chakras (vortices of energy through which the universal Life Force is channeled and transmitted) to rebalance and move energy blockages.  It also has a deep inner balance by sonically resetting our negative cellular patterns in the body. With a sound healing treatment we are able to release tension and disharmony in the solar plexus chakra which relates to the digestive system and any related dysfunctions and aims to bring the body back into harmony for better health and well-being.

Crystals are compatible tools with which to harmonise and balance the chakras. A yellow citrine crystal is used together with the tuning forks to further enhance the treatment. Yellow citrine on a physical level is a great benefit for all digestive problems. It unlocks stagnant energy causing bloating, irritable bowel syndrome, cramps, high blood sugar level and other digestive symptoms.
